Background

In the past thirty years, the Canadian Asian community has emerged as a distinct group that uses innovative and creative ideas to push forward improvements at the local, national and global levels of engagement. Canadian Asian are engaged in philanthropy from many perspectives as donors, professionals, fundraisers and non-profit leaders in both formal and informal networks. They are recognized & respected as law-abiding, patriotic and hard-working citizens who have chosen Canada to be their home and are always ready to make it better.

In Greater Vancouver, Canadian Asian have been pioneers in building and promoting the multi-cultural west coast lifestyle, while still keeping in mind their origins and legacies. They are typically well-educated, dedicated and very skilled at utilizing their globe-spanning experiences and resources to make a positive difference in their communities.

UCPI is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and engaging with Canadian Asian and supporting them in boosting their contributions as citizens, by organizing events and activities that will benefit local communities and the great nations of Canada and their Asian countries of origin.

UCPI serves as a networking platform that connects and interacts with the existing Canadian, Asian and American University Alumni societies to accomplish its mission.

The founding members of UCPI are from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Southeast University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Capital University of Economics and Business of China, as well as McGill University, the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia.
