Hao Shi
Founding President
Former Managing Director, Country Manager for China, Moody’s Investor Services.
Former Chief Representative for Canada, Agricultural Bank of China.
Mr. Shi was born in Shanghai and raised in Beijing and has been working in the financial sector for more than 25 years. After graduation from Tsinghua University, Hao worked for Bank of China in Beijing as team leader of SWIFT project. In late 90s, Hao worked for the Bank of Montreal in Toronto after he graduated from UBC, then First Union/Wachovia in Charlotte, North Carolina in commercial and retail banking. In 2005, he moved back to Asia and was managing director of retail banking, product and operation for China Minsheng Bank and later head of investor solutions for China at Barclays Capital. In 2009, he was appointed as deputy General Manager for the investment banking department of Agricultural Bank of China (ABC).
In 2012, he moved his family back to Canada to open ABC’s first Canadian office in Vancouver due to his love for the city and Canada. Mr. Shi was a member of board of governors with Business Council of BC from 2014-2018. Hao is also an active UBC alumnus and a member of the UBC Alumni Advisory Council 2012-2018 and co-founder of UCPI (University Chinese Philanthropy Initiative). He received a Master of Engineer in Computer Engineering from Tsinghua University and a Master of Science in Computer Science from UBC.
Henry Zhang
President
Henry is a founding member of UCPI. He has been engaged in online education technology in China for more than one decade. Before he founded his own business, Henry had been working for two Hong Kong listed company as CEO. Henry also had extensive media experience, he was a veteran of both TV industry and print media in Hong Kong. Henry was the President of Capital University of Economics and Business Alumni Association in Canada.
Maria Wang
1 st Vice President
Maria graduated from Shaanxi Normal University in 1991. She co-founded IWE Study and Consulting in 2008, which provides educational consulting services for both local and international students. For over a decade, Maria has been an academic advisor for countless students, especially those who came from China. She finds it incredibly rewarding to be able to support students as a mentor during their important transitional periods. She is also the current president of the Enriched Speakers Toastmasters Club.
Alex Zhang
Vice President, Corporate Partnership
Alex Zhang received his Bachelor of History and Master of Finance from East China Normal University. In China, he had decades of working experience with education institutions and financial groups. After moving to Canada, Alex founded his local business and actively involved in community service. Now he is the Vice president of East China Normal University alumni association in British Columbia.
Linda Liu
Vice President, Event Promotion
Linda has 10 years of experience in China in a state-level high-tech enterprise. She then started her own high-tech company in the new energy field for several years. After immigrating to Canada, Linda became very involved in bettering the community. She was the chair of a secondary school PAC; the board member of Youth Leadership Program under Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital foundation; the secretary-general of South East University Alumni Association of Metro Vancouver; and the board member of Cross Cultural Cuisine (CCC).
Lucille Wang
Vice President, Strategic Development
Lucille Wang is one of the founders of UCPI. A deep commitment to mentorship and women’s leadership has propelled Lucille through her non-profit development and management career. Since 2006, she has worked with organizations in women’s leadership, education, health care, arts and culture, and social services. She received her Bachelor of Commerce from the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada. Recently, she relocated to Vancouver from Los Angeles to work for UBC in Development and Alumni Engagement.
Her favourite quote is “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others" by Mahatma Gandhi.
Nevin Xu
Vice President, Event Promotion
Nevin came to Canada in 2006 as an international student and graduated from Simon Fraser University. Now he is the CEO and UDP of Enoch Wealth and the president of Wistom Financial Group. Nevin actively participates in local community activities and he is a Canucks fan.
